FY23 Kling Innovation Grants
Kling Grants Overview | FY25 Grants | FY24 Grants | FY23 Grants
B2B Revenue Initiative
Funding will be used to create a prototype and testing plan for branded newsletters that mix content and messaging from American Public Media with content from regional stations, creating a new, dynamic underwriting-supported content environment and engagement tool for stations, members, and prospective donors.
‘How We Survive’ Experimental, Off-Season Video/Podcast Series
Funding will be used to launch an experimental parallel series to Marketplace’s climate solutions podcast ‘How We Survive’ featuring more frequent, conversational video-podcasts on topics in the news or topics of interest to our guest hosts. This series will be a crucial part of testing and refining Marketplace’s video and YouTube strategy.
Talking Sense
Funding will be used to create a community platform that builds upon MPR’s long history of providing thorough, fact-based political coverage, but with a twist - one aimed at helping people preserve relationships with their loved ones despite our differences.
Collaborative Station Events Initiative (CSE)
Funding will be used to support a series of prototype expanded station partnership events with affiliate station KUOW in June featuring Kai Ryssdal and Kimberly Adams. These events will create a new level of philanthropic collaboration focused on the cultivation of both Marketplace and KUOW major and planned giving donors and prospects.
Street Team & News Video Studio
Funding will be used to build a set space that would allow the production of social videos quickly, efficiently, and with significantly less staff – a game-changing first step to support the new efforts of the MPR News Street Team as well as the entire newsroom.
Public Media Technical Hub: Serving Audiences Faster, Smarter and in One-Stop
Funding will be used to create a centralized hub to better service audience queries that require technical support (currently 70% of all MAS inquiries); a service we could potentially extend to all public media organizations to retain and grow APMG revenue.
Brains On – Television Pitch and Sizzle Creation
Funding will be used to develop a television format from the current audio series and pitch materials/sizzle reel to market the show to potential partners in collaboration with United Talent Agency.
How to LA Box
Funding will be used to prototype and test the “HTLA Box” as a membership premium, delivering regular boxes of curated neighborhood experiences to LAist donors.
Classically Training - Pilot Episode
Funding will be used to create a 45-minute pilot episode of a new visual podcast series called Classically Training (a play on “classically trained”). Each episode of this show would take the audience on a deep dive into one aspect of Classical music.
