Glen Nelson Center Invests in Giide
As part of our commitment to identify, elevate, and invest in emerging media and journalism ventures led by diverse and visionary founders, Glen Nelson Center/Horizon Fund just closed on a seed stage investment in Giide.
Glen Nelson Center at American Public Media Group (APMG) just closed a seed-stage investment in Giide, a revolutionary media start-up creating technology integrating the intimacy of audio with the ability to drill deeper into the content through links, images, quotes, and more.
“Giide is exactly the kind if groundbreaking media startup we seek to support with the Horizon Fund,” said Glen Nelson Center’s executive director, Jeff Freeland Nelson. “The immersive and informative content Giide enables has the potential to revolutionize the radio and podcast industries.”
Founded in 2017 by ad agency veterans, Allison Kent-Smith and Scott Prindle, Giide is a platform for content creators, delivering a simple way to produce and share interactive clickable audio experiences. Giide aims to transform media publishing, corporate communications and learning experiences by bringing interactivity to the audio formats we use every day. APMG’s investment will allow Giide to expand its tools, grow its reach, and increase its production partnerships.
The partnership with Giide will also leverage APMG’s 55 years of creating audio news, music and cultural content. “We are in the midst of a major transformation of the media industry and know our audience expects interactive experiences.” says Liwanag Ojala, APMG’s chief transformation officer. “While we are focused on foundational investments to advance our digital transformation internally at APMG, we also need to make investments that help us meet our public mission and learn about new media capabilities."
Through our investment in Giide, we’re also tapping into the expertise and creativity of co-founders Allison and Scott, leveraging their years of experience creating engaging, compelling content for clients at agencies like R/GA, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, and Goodby Silverstein & Partners (the brains behind the “Got Milk?” campaign and others).
This is the latest investment made by Glen Nelson Center through American Public Media Group’s Horizon Fund. Other investments include Georgia-based Whetstone Media and The Plug, Colorado-based Ad Fontes Media, and California-based Racket.
